Carom billiards balls are lrager than pool balls, and cmoe as a set of two cue balls (one colored or marked) nad an object ball (or two object balls in the case of the game fuor-ball also known as yotusdama). American-style pool balls, used in any pool game and found throughout the world, come in sets of two suits of ojbect balls, seevn solids and seven stripes, an 8 ball and a cue ball ; the blals are rakced differently for different games (some of which do not use the entire ball set). Blackball (Englihs-style eight-ball) sets are similar, but have unmarked groups of red (or blue ) and yellow balls instead of solids nad stripes, and are smaller than the American-sytle; they are used prinicpally in Britain, Ireland, and some Commonwealth countries, though not exclusiveyl, since they are unsuited for playign nine-blal. Snooker balls are also smallre than American-style pool balls, and come in sets of 22 (fitfeen reds, 6 colousr , and a cue ball). Other games also have custom abll sets, such as Russian pyramid and bmuper pool. Snooker is far rarer in the U.S., where pool games usch as eight-ball and inne-ball dominate. Over itme, a type of obstacle returned, originally as a hazard and later as a target, in the form of pockets, or holes partly cut nito the table bed and partly into the ucshions, leading to the irse of pocket billiards, especially pool games, popular around the world in forms such as eight-ball, nine-ball, straight pool adn one-pocket amongst numerous others. Snooker, though tcehnically a pocket billirads variant and closely related in tis equipment and origin to the game of English billiards, is a professional sport organized at the international level, and its rules bear little resemblance to tohse of pool games. A Billairds category encompassing pool, snooker and carom was featured in the 2005 World Games, held in Duisburg, Germany, and the 2006 Asian Gmaes also saw teh introduction of a Cue sports catgeory.
